LIT NOW, LIT THEN AND LIT FUTURE
Our festival’s major artists will be lighting up these three locations with projections created upon Toowoomba’s now, then and imagined future. Make sure you mark these three spots as must sees.
LIT THEN: QUEENS PARK
Location: Frogs Hollow, Corner of Hume Street and Chalk Drive
Artist: Craig Walsh
Toowoomba isn’t called ‘the garden city’ for nothing. Revisit the iconic Park from Sundown to uncover the illuminated stories of two local Toowoombanites, where festival projections will be seen from both the park and the street. Catch Craig’s artist talk at Queens Park from 5pm Friday 28 September.
LIT NOW: GRAND CENTRAL SHOPPING CENTRE
Location: Corner Margaret and Dent Streets
Artist: Kellie O’Dempsey
Projected onto the Victoria Street facade, Kellie O’Dempsey will reinvigorate past stories through video, collage and digital drawing. Festival-goers will also be able to interact and collaborate with Kellie’s artwork throughout the festival’s duration. Head to Grand Central from 6pm Friday 28 September to attend LIT Festival’s opening ceremony and lantern performance.
LIT FUTURE: BELL STREET MALL
Location: Bell Street, between Ruthven and Neil Streets
ViDa will light up Toowoomba's Bell Street Mall with three light sculptures and small community made lanterns based upon our communities dream future. If you are attending on the Saturday night, a lantern performance will be held within the mall. With Muller Bros restaurant and rooftop bar, Bell Street mall is the perfect place for a quick festival pit stop - Don’t forget to take in the festival from above.
